You should also try to rent from off-airport locations, which tend to be cheaper, especially on the weekends, and pre-pay when you book the rental to get a discount.

What about insurance coverage for your rental? Will the credit card you have give you the coverage you need?

Credit Cards and Car Rental Insurance

All the major cards offer you some form of secondary coverage. If you get in an accident, you file a claim with your auto insurance company and the credit card will cover most extra charges, including deductibles that you need to pay. However, there are many exclusions.

BAGHDAD - A SERIES of apparently co-ordinated car bombs targeting police across Iraq on Wednesday killed 41 people, including women and children, one day after the US military confirmed a major troop reduction.

In Baghdad, a suicide car attacker blew up his vehicle at a police station in the northeastern suburb of Qahira, killing 15 people, including two women, two children and two police, and wounding dozens, security and medical officials said.

The attack in the mixed Sunni and Shiite neighbourhood took place around 8 am (5:03 pm S'pore time), according to an interior ministry official who gave the toll.

In an equally lethal attack, a car bomb at a passport office in Kut, 160 km southeast of Baghdad, killed 15 people, including at least 10 police, and wounded 45 people, most of them police, Lieutenant Ali Hussein told AFP.

A series of car bomb attacks in five other towns and cities raised the nationwide toll to 41, and almost 200 wounded.

A spike in unrest over the past two months has triggered concern that Iraqi forces are not yet ready to handle security on their own, and with no new government formed in Baghdad since a March 7 general election.

Not so. How about movies with cars? That fits. Cars are so ingrained into American culture that they have become a sticking point in movies as well. So much that there have cars that have debuted in recent films. What are some of the more popular cars that have appeared in movies? Or, what are the more recognizable vehicles from movies?

Flashback to the early versions of the James Bond films, when Sean Connery played Bond, and many moviegoers remember his incredible car. The Aston Martin DB 5. It was riddled with all kinds of different gadgets to help him defeat his enemies. Now, flashback again to the 1960's, when rock star Elvis Presley ruled the airwaves. Not only was he popular in the music industry, he was also a movie star. In almost all of Presley's movies his 1955 pink Cadillac Fleetwood was featured in plenty of shots. That was the only car he kept until he passed away.

Batmobile

One of the most famous vehicles in all of TV and movies was the Batmobile. Owned and driven by Batman, it is one of the most popular vehicles in cinematic history. Many kids growing up had Batmobile hot wheels, replica toys and sometimes even a homemade Batmobile out of a wagon. The Batmobile has evolved over the years from the comics to the movies and has been redesigned when new Batman movies are released. Many replicas of the Batmobile are on display at theme parks across America to market the Batman ride.

Another famous car from the movie industry was named "Bullit" from the movie "Bullit." The car was driven by Steve McQueen in one of the longest car chase scenes in movie history. The car was a Mustang Fastback and it instantly became one of the most popular makes and models in the automobile industry overnight. Fast cars were also made famous and popular in other movies from the '60s and '70s such as "Italian Job," "Gone in 60 Seconds," and "Grand Prix." Movies in the modern era that feature fast cars are "Minority Report," "The Fast and Furious," and "I, Robot." All of these movies prominently feature fast paced cars that Americans have grown to become fixated with.

The movie industry has helped the automobile industry grow throughout history. Some of the most famous scenes in film have happened in cars. Car chases have always been a popular part of the movies. They can be serious or comical, like the one in the movie "The Blues Brothers." Probably one of the most comical movie scenes involving a car is from the movie Naked Gun. Actors O.J. Simpson and Leslie Nielsen, two of the cops in the movie, get stuck in their squad car when parked at a weird angle.

Honda has the honor of being the first manufacturer from Japan who made the luxury car called the Acura. It was in the year 1986. Honda is not only associated with making cars but many of the other things like marine engines, power generators, watercrafts and also the garden equipments are also made by this great manufacturer. One thing which you can be really sure of is that you do not have to worry about the quality when you buy any of these things from Honda.

Honda's cars have gotten the popularity all over the world. The automobiles made by Honda can be found in one area or country and is not available in the other country. Honda also manufactures the compact cars like Civic and people are very much in love with this range of cars. Honda car parts are easily available throughout the world. The car parts are very important for any car and includes AC parts, service parts, body shop parts, replacement parts, alloy rims, wheels car parts, gaskets, carburetors, euro lights etc. The parts can be obtained from any of the authorized dealer of Honda or you can also purchase the used car parts. Both of these parts have their own advantages and while buying one you should keep all the factors in mind. Compromising the quality over money is not a good idea so while getting yourself any of the used parts you must make sure that it works well and you do not have to suffer in terms of the quality.

Both types of transmissions are available with the Honda cars i.e. both automatic as well as manual. The Honda car accessories are also sold very much. People want to add the maximum things to their cars in order to increase their performance and also giving the look and feel you are looking for.

There is a wide range of the vehicles which are made by Honda today and are famous all over the world. They make cars and automobiles by considering the specific area and location. This is the best quality of this manufacturer as people from different parts of the world have different likings and requirements of their cars. A car can be very famous in one region and not in the other one. Honda keeps this thing in mind and makes customized cars by considering the location where their cars have to be used. High performance, quality, comfort and luxury are the main features that come with the vehicles made by Honda.

When you compare cheap car insurance quotes, you probably compare the prices of each policy you're considering. While comparing prices many seem like the obvious way to get a cheap car insurance quote, price should only be one factor.

Once you have your cheap car insurance quotes, you need to compare them as well as the car insurance companies. There are three factors to consider when you compare cheap car insurance quotes: coverage, cost, and service.

Coverage Offered by the Car Insurance Policy

The first factor to consider as you compare cheap car insurance quotes is the coverage offered by each policy you are thinking about purchasing. There's no point in getting a really cheap car insurance quote if the policy doesn't offer the coverage you want and need.

Cost of the Car Insurance Policy

Now that you know about the kind of coverage offered by each car insurance policy, take another look at the cost of the policies. Do they still seem as cheap as they once did? With the kind of coverage offered by each policy in mind, does the cost of each car insurance policy seem reasonable, or does it seem you will be paying more than you are willing to pay for that coverage? Especially compared to the coverage and cost offered by the other car insurance policies you are considering?

Service Provided by the Car Insurance Company

It is time to take a look at the service provided by each car insurance company, or at least, the car insurance companies offering the insurance policies that have made your cut thus far. First, check the financial rating of the company; you can do this by asking an independent research company. Next, speak with actual agents and representatives from the company to get an idea of the quality and friendliness of the service. Finally, talk to friends and neighbors about their experiences with each car insurance company.

Car Parts

Car repair and refinishing can be an expensive hobby. Whether you fix the cars of family and friends, or have a clunker that you want to turn into a head-turning show car, you have to put out a fair amount of money to buy car parts. What follows, though, is a step by step method of finding inexpensive car parts to help keep your hobby in budget.

1. Put an advertisement in the classifieds of a local newspaper or local penny-saver paper that you are looking for fellow car enthusiasts to team up with to find inexpensive car parts. Give your name and number and tell them you're looking to form a club.

2. When the car enthusiasts respond your advertisement, tell them your idea: that you form a discount car parts club so that you call can save money by filling the minimum purchase order on bulk car part purchases. Get a list from them of the parts they need to fix their cars, and add it to the list of parts you need.

3. Go online to an inexpensive or wholesale car parts site by typing "cheap car parts" or "wholesale car parts" into the search line of your browser. Many of these places have a minimum order of only a couple hundred dollars (or sometimes even less!) So you shouldn't have any problem filling the order. Sometimes, these minimum order quantities mean you also get free shipping and warranties on the parts!

4. When the parts arrive, call the car enthusiasts in your discount car parts club and have them pick up the order and drop off the payment payment. They'll be surprised at how much they saved and you may be able to get another order from them

2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GS Sport

The 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder, convertible version of the Eclipse coupe. The Spyder provides a similar driving and ownership experience to the coupe that means sleek styling, four-passenger seating, a powerful available V6 and a reasonable amount of comfort. With the Spyder in the reasonably priced convertible segment, Mitsubishi has taken a unbiased approach. With quick and sporty two-seat roadsters on one end of the range and four-seat family-sedan-based convertibles on the other, the Eclipse sits comfortably in the middle. During the previous years, the Spyder's closest competitors have been changeable cars such as the Chevy Camaro and Ford Mustang. The Spyder has been available for all Eclipse generations except the first, and has occasionally dropped out of existence as new generations of the Eclipse debuted.

The British built Nissan Note enters the 2011 model year with a few subtle trim and equipment upgrades, plus tweaked 1.4 and 1.6-litre petrol engines that now comply with the latest Euro V emissions regulations.

From the outside, the tall supermini receives some styling enhancements in the form of silver painted door handles and tailgate trim, plus gloss black B and C-pillars for the Acenta and Teckna grades. The 'n-tec' version gets a new front spoiler finisher and front entry guards. The addition of two new metallic colors, Magnetic Red and Grey, round off the exterior changes on the Note.

For the 2011MY, all variants of the Note are fitted with standard ESP. Furthermore, the Acenta versions benefit from a new audio system with USB and iPod slots, while the n-tec models get standard climate control, auto lighting and auto wiper systems. Finally, Nissan's previously optional Intelligent Key is now standard on the top-spec Tekna's equipment list.

If you’re trying to save the earth but still can’t stand the thought of using public transportation on your next trip, give Enterprise car rental a call. Besides offering to pick you up, they’ll also sign you up for an electric vehicle. The rental car firm plans to offer up plenty of Nissan Leaf cars starting early next year.

By January 2011, the rental car company will have signed the papers on 500 of the eco-chic cars, and eventually they’ll thrown down the cash to get some other alternative vehicles from other manufacturers. We’re thinking that means the Chevy Volt, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Unfortunately the new cars will only be available in certain markets, so you might have to plan your trip accordingly to experience the new technology. Phoenix, Tucson, Knoxville, Nashville, San Diego, Los Angeles, Portland, and Seattle all seem to be getting the green light for these new cars.

Even though we won’t be declining the eight types of optional insurance until next year, preparations for the electric cars will begin this fall, as Enterprise will start installing charging stations at select locations. Let's just hope that we'll actually be able to afford to rent one when they finally become available.

The next time you need to rent a car, why not drive a battery electric vehicle to your final destination?

Enterprise Rent-a-Car has announced it is purchasing 500 LEAF vehicles from Nissan Motor Company for over $12 million.

Beginning in January 2011, the zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) will initially be available only in select cities – Phoenix, Tucson, Knoxville, Nashville, San Diego, Los Angeles, Portland and Seattle.

The LEAF can be charged using a standard 110-volt outlet or commercial charging station. In November, Enterprise plans on installing charging stations at select rental locations. The car rental company plans on offering other electric vehicles as they become available.

Although the estimated base price of the LEAF is over $32,000, Enterprise will receive a $7,500 federal tax credit on each battery electric vehicle. Consumers may also be eligible for tax credits and incentives. The Nissan LEAF will be available for purchase nationwide by the end of 2011. According to reports, about 17,000 people in the U.S. have already placed orders for the new LEAF.

If you're unimpressed by BMW's own M-Sport styling packages for the new 5-Series saloon, Hamann Motorsport's has launched its new tuning program for the midsize luxury sedan with an assortment of aero parts, chassis upgrades and interior enhancements.

For the car's looks, Hamann has readied a bodykit that consists of an adjustable front lip spoiler, new front bumper trim with built-in daytime running LEDs, sculptured side skirts, a rear apron with an integrated diffuser, a not so elegant boot lid spoiler and for those that don't mind going overboard, an additional roof spoiler.

Hyundai, the South Korean automaker-that-could, plans to offer more personalized service and deliver the royal treatment to owners of its upcoming $50,000+ Equus luxury sedan that will slot above the Genesis in the firm's U.S. lineup.

First of all, those interested in buying the car won't even have to bother going to the dealership. As part of Hyundai's "Your Time, Your Place" program, a salesman will bring an Equus right in front of your door for demonstration purposes and a test drive.

If you decide to buy the car, then you'll be eligible for another perk, Hyundai's Valet Service program, which provides at-home pickup for Equus service and maintenance. And while your car is in for a fix, a dealer "valet" will drop off a Genesis so you can move around. Did we mention that Hyundai has also replaced the car's manual with an Apple iPad?

And if you're wondering how will Hyundai be able to offer so much to its Equus customers, the answer is simple; low volume. According to Hyundai Motor America President and CEO John Krafcik, the firm doesn't expect to sell more than 2,000 to 3,000 Equus sedans a year in the States.

Market Overview

The car rental industry is a multi-billion dollar sector of the US economy. The US segment of the industry averages about $18.5 billion in revenue a year. Today, there are approximately 1.9 million rental vehicles that service the US segment of the market. In addition, there are many rental agencies besides the industry leaders that subdivide the total revenue, namely Dollar Thrifty, Budget and Vanguard. Unlike other mature service industries, the rental car industry is highly consolidated which naturally puts potential new comers at a cost-disadvantage since they face high input costs with reduced possibility of economies of scale. Moreover, most of the profit is generated by a few firms including Enterprise, Hertz and Avis. For the fiscal year of 2004, Enterprise generated $7.4 billion in total revenue. Hertz came in second position with about $5.2 billion and Avis with $2.97 in revenue.

Level of Integration

The rental car industry faces a completely different environment than it did five years ago. According to Business Travel News, vehicles are being rented until they have accumulated 20,000 to 30,000 miles until they are relegated to the used car industry whereas the turn-around mileage was 12,000 to 15,000 miles five years ago. Because of slow industry growth and narrow profit margin, there is no imminent threat to backward integration within the industry. In fact, among the industry players only Hertz is vertically integrated through Ford.

Finding the best possible car insurance premium requires a little legwork. Several different policies must be sought out and then compared. It is important to compare car insurance because it is worth taking a little bit of time to find the best policy with the best premiums. When it comes to insurance coverage, there are quite a few things that require consideration.

The first is what coverage is needed. Drivers must evaluate the type of coverage that will best cover their situation and then compare premiums of several similar plans. To compare car insurance this way it is pretty easy. Simply search the web for policies from different insurance agencies that offer similar policies. Once this information has been gathered the only thing left to do is compare the premiums.

Tips for Comparing Insurance Premiums

Comparing insurance premiums is easy if done correctly. The most important thing to do is compare similar policies and their corresponding rates. Doing this results in an objective comparison and makes the best choice for car insurance obvious. To compare car insurance plans the liability protection, car repair, and medical coverage should all be exactly the same. The deductibles for each car insurance plan should be equal as well. When this information is compiled, it becomes very easy to compare car insurance and the most affordable quote is obvious.

Insurance quotes are not always 100% accurate, however, because they are simply quotes. However, it is simple to compare car insurance and determine the plan that is most comprehensive and affordable.

Former South African president Nelson Mandela's great-granddaughter Zenani Mandela was killed in a car crash while returning home from the World Cup kick-off concert here Friday.

The Nelson Mandela Foundation said in a statement that the car in which the girl, who had turned 13 two days ago, was travelling was the only vehicle involved in the accident.

The family has asked for privacy as they mourn this tragedy,' the statement added.

Friday is the first day of the World Cup, when South Africa take on Mexico here.

Mandela, 91, was feted by tens of thousands of spectators at the warm-up gig in Soweto's Orlando Stadium, where Archbishop Desmond Tutu introduced a slide-show of photographs about the anti-apartheid icon in between acts.

Mandela, who is expected to attend part of the opening game in Soccer City later, has eight other great-grandchildren.
